The Bar Harbor Garden Club is pleased to present “Growing Dahlias” with Mary Turner, founder and owner of Salt Farm Flowers, master gardener, and educator, on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Kebo Valley Golf Club, 136 Eagle Lake Road, Bar Harbor. The Annual Meeting and Luncheon will begin 11:30 A.M. All are welcome to join.

Mary will give a presentation of her experience as a commercial flower grower. She will focus her talk on growing and propagating dahlias in coastal Maine and will also share some of her techniques, tips, and favorite dahlias. Popular varieties other than dahlias will also be discussed.
Salt Farm Flowers, located in Trenton, Maine, was founded in 2014 and produces over one hundred varieties of sustainably grown heirloom flowers and botanicals. With the guidance of organizations like Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) and with the help of friends and family, a flower farm was created on fallow farmland, and it continues to grow. Salt Farm Flowers is operated by a talented team of family members, friends and trained floral designers who work together to keep the farm producing the highest quality local flowers possible. Mary has combined her master’s degree in education and a love of growing things to enable her to begin an encore career as a flower farmer. Many years of volunteering as a Master Gardener helped to form the concept and provide the confidence to start Salt Farm Flowers.

The all-inclusive lunch cost for non-members is $30.00 and members is $25.00, and includes a choice of veggie or turkey club wrap, beverage, fresh baked cupcakes & gratuity. Payment may be made at the door. Please specify any dietary restrictions.
