In observance of Memorial Day, May 31, 2021, in compliance with the CDC recommendations for the Covid-19 pandemic and respecting the utmost of caution for participants, the following observance is planned. The hand-crafted wreath will be on display all weekend.
In lieu of an on-site ceremony open to the public, the BHGC will leave a weather-proof bin at the Blue Star Memorial Marker site. The public is invited to stop by any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and to leave a written thought in the bin reflecting a sentiment appropriate for remembering and honoring our Veterans. The collection will be archived and displayed for viewing at our Veterans Day Observance at the same site. Also, notes collected during our Veterans Day commemoration will be on display.
Stay Safe. Take care of yourselves and each other. Remember our Veterans in your thoughts. Be thankful. Please take a poppy for your lapel after visiting and thank you for participating.
The Marker is located 1/3 of a mile from the head of Mount Desert Island on Route 3.
