Blue Star Memorial Marker, 2016 Memorial Day Celebration

Blue-Star-Marker-02The Bar Harbor Garden Club will be hosting a Memorial Day celebration to honor all men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States.  The celebration will be held at 1 PM on Memorial Day, May 30th at the Blue Star Marker, located on top of the Island.  A wreath will be placed at the Memorial.  The public is invited and encouraged to join.

The Blue Star Memorial program began with the planting by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs in 1944 as a living memorial to veterans of World War ll.  The Blue Star Highway system covers thousands of miles across the Continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii.
