Whether you are a serious gardener or simply enjoy the many public gardens and flowers in our part of Maine, you have probably noticed the impact of changes in the climate that affect our
efforts during our gardening season. The Bar Harbor Garden Club is pleased to present a timely program, “Climate Change and Maine’s Growing Season,” to its members and the public on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. Dr. Sean Birkel, an Assistant Extension Professor at the University of Maine, will share his expertise as we learn the ramifications of changes in our climate at the local and state levels. Dr. Birkel has a joint appointment to the Climate Change Institute and Cooperative Extension. His role as the Maine State Climatologist provides climate and weather information to Maine stakeholders to facilitate decision-making and planning. His research focuses on climate variability and modeling. Dr. Birkel developed a widely used data visualization website, ClimateReanalyzer.org.
Dr. Birkel’s one-hour presentation will begin at 1:00 P.M. at Birch Bay Retirement Village in Bar Harbor and will include time for questions.
