Volunteers Repair Blue Star Marker, Nov-2016

Blue Star Memorial Marker

The VFW and Bar Harbor Garden Club thanked Club member Tom McIntyre and Ozzie Watterson, husband of Club member Alana Watterson, at their Veteran’s Day wreath-laying ceremony on November 11th. The men were responsible for resetting the pole for the Blue Star Memorial Marker, located on Rt. 3 near the head of the Island, which had badly shifted in winters past.

The Blue Star Memorial Marker is a project of the National Garden Club honoring all veterans. The Bar Harbor Marker is maintained by the BHGC and honors Bar Harbor native Capt. Ernest Joy, USNMC.
