Karen Rea, President of the Garden Club Federation of Maine
The Bar Harbor Garden Club welcomes Karen Rea, the current President of the Garden Club Federation of Maine (GCFM).
Across the state of Maine, there are 37 garden clubs that comprise the GCFM including the Bar Harbor Garden Club. In her two-year term serving as President, Ms. Rea is passionate about educating members about the effects of turf-grass lawns on the environment and ways we can make a difference by applying what we know about pollinators and native plants.
Utilizing this knowledge, we can create more ecologically sound lawns. Ms. Rea has promoted a series of speakers, a workshop, and newsletter articles that convey the latest knowledge to GCFM members and the public in order to provide a foundation for a more sustainable future.
The Bar Harbor Garden Club welcomes its members and the public to learn how we can make a difference in our own lawns. The program will begin at 1:00 P.M. at Birch Bay Retirement Village in Bar Harbor. All members and guests are asked to register for this special program since seating is limited. This presentation is one of the monthly programs offered to the public by the Bar Harbor Garden Club.
