The winner of the prestigious NELL GOFF SCHOLARSHIP for 2024 is Ms. Lillian Frank. Ms. Frank is a graduate of Ellsworth High School class of 2021, and is entering her senior year as a student of the Earth and Oceanographic Sciences at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine. To her credit, Ms. Frank was chosen to sail aboard the research schooner Bowdoin to the Arctic, and in addition performed a semester of ecological study and work in Botswana.
This talented young person also works as a “raft guide” on the Kennebec River and is actively in pursuit of the “Registered Maine Guide “certification. As an addition to the financial reward of $3,000 for her achievements, the Ellsworth Garden Club, as a member club of the St. Croix District Garden Clubs, will extend a complimentary two-year membership of their organization.
The official announcement will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the St. Croix District to be held on May 23, 2024 in Jonesport, Maine. As Trustee for the Nell Goff Scholarship, the Bar Harbor Garden Club advertises and solicits potential candidates for the consideration of the St. Croix Board of Directors who make the decision for the best candidate in any given year.
The Bar Harbor Garden Club has two additional scholarships available this spring: THE PETER H. DOLLIVER LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP and the INGE C.B. WEBER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.
