Clover Cottage Garden

This simple, modest cottage garden, located on the corner of Peabody Drive and Asticou Drive, was originally planned and planted by Charles K. Savage to ornament the front yard of his home. A number of early season blooming shrubs from Beatrix Farrand’s Reef Point Gardens still flourish in the yard. These include: pieris, flame azalea, enkianthus and several species of rhododendrons. Original planting plans could not be located, but were based on verbal descriptions and recalled memory. The garden beds have been filled with traditional, old fashioned New England perennial plants and a few annuals that reflect an informal, somewhat whimsical pallet of spring, summer and fall blooms.
