The daffodils were blooming this year when the final dogwood tree was planted at the Blue Star Memorial Marker, located along ME-3 near the head of Mount Desert Island.
The Bar Harbor Garden Club wanted to enhance this memorial dedicated to our country’s war veterans by planting three Pagoda Dogwood trees. The tradition of planting dogwoods along highways started in New Jersey as a way to remember those who fought in World War-II.
